8. Creating and configuration the data backup policy

8.1. To create a new data backup policy, click on Policies menu, and choose Create New Policy.
8.2. In Policy Settings specify the policies Name, policies Description, choose the server to which apply this policy and the previously defined Disk Safe database. Replication Schedule – define when the policy should be performed.  Merge Schedule – if the protected server contains large amounts of data, for reducing the time of data backup is possible to set the time when to integrate recovery points. Disk Safe Verification Schedule – to avoid database errors and data damage, it is advisable to make data verification.
8.3. In Data Retention define the protected server rotation circuit, then set, when the recovery points should be archived.
8.4. In File Excludes can define which files or folders shouldn’t be included in the data backup.
8.5. If it is necessary don’t create the data backups for specific file types, for example *.mp3, then those settings can define in Advanced Excludes section.
Note: The steps 8.6.-8.8 should be performed from the appropriate Server Backup Manager!
8.6. In SQL Server define which instances of the protected database server should be backed up.
8.7. In Exchange specify, is it necessary to create data backup for e-mail server instances.
8.8. In My SQL define which My SQL instances of the protected database server should be backed up.
8.9. In Control Panels is possible to add hosting management panel instances of the protected server.
8.10.In Advanced Policy Settings is possible to specify additional settings:
  • Force Full Block Scan (Full Block Scan compares the MD5 sum of all allocated blocks to perform the backup and synchronize Server Backup);
  • Exclude All Volume Shadow Copy Writers (if for some reason (temporary or test) is necessary to exclude data backup of MS SQL or MS Exchange instances);
  • Verify checksums server side (this function is responsible for data integrity, ensuring that no data is lost during transporting);
  • Multi-Volume Snapshot (if MS SQL Server or MS Exchange Server has data files across more than one logical disk);
  • Exclude Virtuozzo root image files (enable this option to exclude the Virtuozzo root image files from backing up).
8.11. Click Create in the bottom of the window to add the Policy to the Policies list.
